Two page spread and Table of contents - codes and conventions

Image
The concept I have in mind for my two page spread is to feature one of my vehicle photos in an outdoor land scape while driving down the road preferably a bright an scenic area to help compliment the vehicles colors, and the light can help brighten up the area and help bring the attention of the viewer onto the vehicle, and then the smaller images of the vehicles parts, such as the wheels, rear end, the front end, the interior, and the exhaust to really show the viewer a full show of the inside, outside, and possibly the contents of the vehicle like the examples displayed. For my table of contents, the layout I would prefer is another image of one of my vehicles in the background to display the possible vehicles I will be discussing inside of this magazine. The idea for the text of the table of contents is to keep the concept of bright colors from the cover of the magazine and keep the same text fonts. For the titles for the table of contents, I would like to number the pages nex...

Magazine cover ideas

Image
So I spent some time outside of school taking some photos of motorcycles to see if I would prefer motorcycles over cars for my vehicle magazine. I’m still strong with my preference for high-key lighting on these vehicles, however I’m still experimenting with angles for the vehicles and will continue to update and try more angles for my magazine cover and I will update my blogger with new photos soon.

Pitching my magzine

When creating my magazine, I discussed some of my ideas with my table partner. However, when we discussed my plans for my magazine, she made some suggestions for me and we discussed what I should keep when creating my magazine. We discussed the possible locations for me to take my photos of these vehicles such as car dealerships, museums, car meet-ups, or even photos of cars on the roads. However, we thought it would come off as unsettling to take photos of stranger's cars on the road, so I will stick to people I know and ask them to photograph their cars. Another topic we discussed about my magazine was the composition and angle I will be taking photos of the cars. Additionally, she suggested some angles and I preferred keeping the camera on level with the vehicle because it is displayed as such on most magazine covers.  When I showed my table partner my colors, I explained that my colors were chosen based on the car selection of cars you may see on the road every day. She ...

Codes and Conventions

Based on the magazines displayed, the majority of vehicle magazines such as cars, use high-key lighting to bring the viewer's attention to the vehicles. This should be taken note of when I create my magazine.  When looking at vehicle magazines,  it is important to note the large Mastheads on these magazines followed by the text beneath it describing the topic of the magazine. Most of these vehicle magazines display a close-up shot of the front end of the vehicles to display their design and to also display the company/car brand they are discussing in the magazine.

**Company Overview:**  Motorsports magazines have been keeping racing fans informed for over 100 years. Originally named Brooklands Gazette in 1924, it later became known as Motorsports. Bill Boddy, who joined in 1936, played a significant role in establishing the magazine as a leading name in racing publications during his 55 years as editor.  **Major Productions and Distribution:**  Key publications include F1 Racing, Motorsports, Autosport, Evo, and Fast Car. While standard photography techniques are used, the magazines emphasize the special technologies of racing vehicles, like engines and exhaust systems. As of 2023, annual subscriptions cost $30 currently, however, the subscription used to cost $20. The magazines are available through newsstands, online platforms, and paid subscriptions (both digital and print).  **Production Process:**  The G4 system streamlines production, enabling racing teams to quickly modify their designs at lower costs. The magazine...

Fonts, Name, and Colors

I have created a name for my magazine, an selected the colors based on two factors, one being vehicle colors, and the second being eye cathing colors to my audience.

I selected my genre

Creating a magazine focused on vehicles like motorcycles and cars is something I’ve been excited about for a while. My inspiration comes from my parents’ history with racing. Before I was born, they both enjoyed racing bikes, riding around town, and living life to the fullest. However, when my mom found out she was pregnant, she decided to step back from riding to focus on me. My dad, on the other hand, continued riding his motorcycle for a while longer but eventually stopped and bought a sports car instead. At first, the younger me felt a bit bummed about him selling the bike since I thought it looked awesome. But as I watched him with the car, I began to appreciate it. I still remember how cool it felt to sit in the passenger seat and smell the exhaust on my dad as I hugged him. Unfortunately, in 2021 when the car was destroyed, and we had to get a new one, which was a tough moment for all of us. However, after about a year, my dad reconsidered and purchased a new race bike, and ...
